Mood tracker app for iPhone and Android

A mood tracker that shows you what goes with your better days

Mendly is a daily check-in that takes about a minute. Rate your day, answer a few short questions about what you did, and Mendly lines the two up, so you can see which habits go with your better days and which go with your harder ones. Worked out from your own check-ins, not generic advice.

How it works

  1. Pick what you want to track: sleep, exercise, stress, energy, time with people, time outside, and more. Change it whenever you like.
  2. Check in once a day. It takes about a minute: a score for the day, a few quick answers, and a note if you feel like it.
  3. Set a reminder for whatever time suits you. It never mentions what you track or how you answered.
  4. After ten check-ins you see your usual day. Patterns, what lines up with your better and harder days, usually appear after about three weeks.

Rates, not averages

Most mood trackers tell you that your average mood was 6.3 on exercise days and 4.2 on the others. That is hard to feel anything about.

Mendly tells you how often a day beat your usual: something like 48% of your good-sleep days against 6% of your short-sleep days. That is a pattern you can act on.

Every pattern has to clear a statistical test before you see it. When nothing clears it, Mendly says so instead of showing you something faint.

What you get for free

Mendly Plus, if you want more

  • A one-page summary to bring to a therapist or doctor
  • What tends to follow a short night or a hard day, and what builds up across several days
  • Questions you write yourself, tracked and compared like everything else

  • Delete your account and all of your data from Settings

Worth knowing

Mendly is a general wellness app, not a medical device. It does not diagnose or treat anything, and two things happening on the same days may have nothing to do with each other.

If you are in crisis, Mendly is not the right tool. In the United States, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

Common questions

Is Mendly free?

Yes. The free version includes the daily check-in, your history, your usual day and your strongest same-day pattern. Mendly Plus is optional and adds every pattern in detail, Apple Health or Health Connect, monthly and yearly recaps, a session summary, day-after and build-up patterns, your own questions and an automatically generated weekly summary.

How long does a check-in take?

About a minute: a score for the day, a few short answers, and an optional note.

How soon will I see patterns?

After ten check-ins you see your usual day. Patterns usually appear after about three weeks, because each comparison needs days spread over at least three weeks. A pattern only appears once your own check-ins actually support it, so some take longer than others.

Can my therapist see my personal Mendly account?

No. A personal account is never visible to a therapist. If your therapist uses Mendly, they invite you to a separate client account for the check-ins they set up.

Who can use it?

Anyone 18 or over, on iPhone or Android.
