Comparison

Mendly vs Bearable

Bearable and Mendly both compare what you do with how you feel. Bearable is a broad health tracker built around symptoms and long-term health conditions as well as mental health. Mendly is a one-minute mood check-in focused on everyday habits, with a second side for therapists whose clients check in between sessions.

The short version

Bearable tracks a lot: mood, energy, symptoms, medication, sleep, food, your cycle and more, at several points in the day if you like. It compares days when a factor happened with days it did not, and shows whether it had a positive, negative or neutral impact.

Mendly tracks less on purpose: a score for your day, a few short answers and an optional note. It is a general wellness app, not a symptom tracker. It shows how often days with a habit were good days, compared with days without it, and only once a pattern passes a statistical test. If your therapist uses Mendly, they can set up a check-in for you and see it before each session.

What Mendly is

Mendly is a short daily check-in with two ways to use it. The two are kept separate: a personal account is never visible to a therapist.

  • For yourself: the Mendly app for iPhone and Android. Rate your day, answer a few quick questions about what you did, and after a few weeks Mendly shows which habits go with your better days. Free, with an optional Plus subscription.
  • For therapists: a web dashboard. You choose the questions each client answers, the client checks in on their phone or in a browser, and before the next session you see their week, their notes and which of the things they track lined up with their mood. Free for up to 2 clients.

If you see a therapist

Bearable is a personal tracker. Its help pages suggest sharing an export, screenshots of your reports or your timeline with your doctor or therapist.

Mendly has a side built for this. A therapist who uses Mendly picks the questions you answer each day and sends you an invite. You check in on your phone, and your answers, notes and mood go to their dashboard, so they can see your week before the session. That client account is separate from a personal Mendly account.

If you use the personal app on your own, Mendly Plus can make a one-page summary of your check-ins to bring to a therapist or doctor.

Choose Bearable if

  • You are tracking symptoms, medication or your cycle
  • You want to log at several points in the day
  • You want health measurements such as heart rate variability or blood pressure next to your mood
  • You want unlimited tracking on a free plan

Choose Mendly if

  • Mood and everyday habits are what you want to understand
  • You want a check-in that takes about a minute
  • You want each pattern as a plain rate: how often days with a habit were good days
  • Your therapist uses Mendly, or you are a therapist who wants clients to check in between sessions

Common questions

Can my therapist see my personal Mendly app?

No. A personal account is never visible to a therapist. If your therapist uses Mendly, they invite you to a separate client account for the check-ins they set up.

Is Mendly a medical app?

No. Mendly is a general wellness app. It does not diagnose or treat anything, and two things happening on the same days may have nothing to do with each other. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 in the United States.
