Comparison

Mendly vs MoodLinks

Both give therapy clients a daily check-in between sessions and give the therapist a view of how they are doing. They are built around different ideas, and the right one depends on what you want from the check-in.

The short version

MoodLinks pairs adaptive morning and evening check-ins with built-in CBT, DBT and ACT exercises, worksheets, audio lessons and scored outcome assessments. It suits you if you want a ready-made library of between-session content for clients.

Mendly has no content library. The check-in is made of questions you write or pick for each client, and Mendly shows which of them line up with that client’s mood. You can also assign standardized questionnaires such as the PHQ-9 and GAD-7. It suits you if a short daily check-in and the patterns in it are what you want, without exercises for the client to work through.

What Mendly is

Mendly is a short daily check-in with two ways to use it. The two are kept separate: a personal account is never visible to a therapist.

  • For therapists: a web dashboard. You choose the questions each client answers, the client checks in on their phone or in a browser, and before the next session you see their week, their notes and which of the things they track lined up with their mood. Free for up to 2 clients.
  • For yourself: the Mendly app for iPhone and Android. Rate your day, answer a few quick questions about what you did, and after a few weeks Mendly shows which habits go with your better days. Free, with an optional Plus subscription.
