2. First Login

After creating your account:

  • Accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
  • You'll be directed to your daily check-in page
  • Your therapist has already set up your tracking questions

Completing Your Daily Check-In

Overall Happiness Score

First question is always your overall happiness for the day:

  • Slide the scale from 1 (very unhappy) to 10 (very happy)
  • Choose based on how you feel overall today
  • This is required for every check-in

Tracking Questions

Your therapist has chosen specific questions for you. Answer each one:

Yes/No Questions

Click Yes, No, or N/A if the question doesn't apply today

Number Questions

Enter a number (like hours of sleep, times you exercised). Use N/A button if not applicable.

Scale Questions (1-10)

Drag the slider to rate intensity or severity. Use N/A button if not applicable.

Text Questions

Write your answer in the text box. Be as detailed or brief as you like. Use N/A button if you prefer not to answer.

Additional Notes (Optional)

At the end, there's space for any extra thoughts or observations about your day. This is completely optional but can provide helpful context.

Submitting Your Check-In

  • Click "Submit Entry" when done
  • Takes less than 2 minutes
  • You can update your entry later the same day
  • Can't edit previous days (keeps data accurate)

Understanding Your Questions

Standard vs. Custom Questions

  • Standard questions: Evidence-based questions used by mental health professionals
  • Custom questions: Marked with a purple "Custom" badge - these are specific questions your therapist created for you

When to Use N/A

Use "N/A" (Not Applicable) when:

  • Question doesn't apply to your day
  • You didn't have opportunity to do the activity
  • You prefer not to answer

Note: Too many N/A responses may limit insights, but it's better than forcing an inaccurate answer.

Your Therapist Views Your Data

Your therapist has access to all your check-in data and uses it to provide better care:

What Your Therapist Can See

  • Your happiness trend over time
  • Individual metric trends for each tracking question
  • Correlations between activities and your wellbeing
  • Your daily notes and observations

How This Helps Your Treatment

Your data helps your therapist:

  • Identify patterns in your mood and behavior
  • Discover what activities improve your wellbeing
  • Track your progress toward treatment goals
  • Make informed decisions about your care
  • Celebrate your wins and address challenges

Discussing Your Data

Your therapist will review your data before sessions and may share insights with you. Feel free to ask questions about your trends and what they mean for your treatment.

Tips for Effective Tracking

Consistency is Key

  • Complete check-in at the same time each day
  • Evening is often best - you can reflect on the full day
  • Set a daily reminder on your phone
  • Missing a day occasionally is okay

Be Honest

  • Answer based on how you truly feel, not how you think you should feel
  • Your responses help identify patterns and what works for you
  • There are no "right" or "wrong" answers

Use the Notes Section

  • Jot down significant events or thoughts
  • Helps provide context for unusual scores
  • Can be therapeutic to write things down
  • Your therapist can see these notes

Track for at Least 2 Weeks

Patterns and correlations become clearer with more data. Try to track consistently for at least 2 weeks before drawing conclusions.

Privacy & Security

Who Can See Your Data?

  • Only your assigned therapist
  • No one else at Mendly can access your information
  • Data is encrypted and secure

Common Questions

I missed yesterday's check-in. Can I fill it in now?

No, you can only complete or update the current day's entry. This keeps data accurate and prevents memory bias.

Can I see my old entries?

Your therapist can show you your trends and progress during sessions. They have full access to all your data and insights.

The questions don't make sense for me. What do I do?

Talk to your therapist! They can adjust your questions anytime to better fit your situation and treatment goals.

How long do I need to track?

As long as you and your therapist find it helpful. Many people track throughout their therapy journey to monitor progress.

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

Click "Forgot Password" on the login page and follow the email instructions.
